Under Part 8 of the Treaty Act, the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs is required to prepare an annual report on the work of the State in advancing the treaty process.
On 9 December 2019, the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria (Assembly) was declared to be the Aboriginal Representative Body in accordance with section 11 of the Treaty Act. Part 8 of the Treaty Act also requires the Assembly to report annually on its work in advancing treaty. To view the Assembly’s report visit the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria website.
These reporting requirements ensure that the Assembly and the State are transparent in their work to advance treaty in Victoria.
